One of today's biggest wellness issues among kids is lack of activity — in part due to the elimination of recess in many schools across the country. Even though studies show the physical and emotional benefits associated with daily down time for activity breaks, a recent survey by Action for Healthy Kids reveals only 4 percent of states require that schools incorporate recess into students' day.
As part of its commitment to nourishing the minds and bodies of children, Campbell's Labels for Education™ launched Campbell's Recess Rewards — a program that rewards schools for making physical activity a priority for their students.
Recess Rewards, a component of LFE's Labels For America™ community-focused program, offers 500 bonus points to every school that participates in recess, fitness, health and nutrition related activities.
Here's how it works:
- Participate in recess, health, wellness and fitness activities that promote wellness in your school and/or community. For example:
- Conduct a Recess Wellness event
- Become a Recess Monitor at your school
- Organize fitness- or nutrition-oriented community programs
- Then, submit a description of your activity by filling out the official Participation Form. Your school's account will automatically be credited with 500 bonus points.
